What players are compatible with the Deep Live Hub?
Compatible Video Players and Using the Aiconix Live Viewer for Real-Time Transcripts
Although Deep Live Hub currently does not feature a native video player, you can display videos along with subtitles and translations using any player that supports "608-over-708" subtitles. Some popular compatible players include:
- YouTube
- Twitch
- Vimeo
- VLC Player
These platforms will properly display the video along with embedded subtitles and translations generated by Deep Live Hub.
What is "608-over-708" Compatibility?
Closed captions are an essential accessibility feature for people who are deaf or hard of hearing. There are two main standards for encoding and decoding closed captions, as defined by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC): CEA-608 and CTA-708.
- CEA-608 is the older standard, originally designed for analog television.
- CTA-708 is the newer standard, developed for digital television.
Even though CTA-708 is the modern standard, CEA-608 remains widely used because it is still compatible with digital TVs. Additionally, some devices, such as streaming players, may only support CEA-608 captions, making it an important format for accessibility across different platforms.
Players with "608-over-708" compatibility can properly handle subtitles generated by Deep Live Hub.Aiconix Live Viewer for Real-Time Transcripts and Translations:
