How do I work with the live editor?

Editing Transcripts in Real-Time Using the Live Editor

Steps to Use the Live Editor:

Once you have activated the live editor for your live stream workflow, follow these steps to begin editing transcripts in real-time:

  1. Start Your Stream:

    • Ensure your stream is live.
  2. Access the Live Editor:

    • On your workflow editing page, go to the Overview tab.
    • Open the Processing dropdown menu.
    • Copy the URL from "Shared Editor" and paste it into a new browser window.
    • Enter the provided PIN to access the editor.
  3. Viewing Transcripts:

    • As the stream runs, the transcripts will appear line by line in the original language.
    • The line currently being spoken is highlighted and synchronized with the player in the bottom left corner.
    • Editable text is displayed in white on a black background. Once the text is sent to output ("egress"), it becomes grey and can no longer be edited.

Sent to Egress:
Once the text is "sent to egress", it is finalized, published and can no longer be edited.
The text will appear in grey, signaling that it’s been processed for publishing.

  1. Editing Transcripts:

    • To edit a line, simply click on the transcript where you'd like to make changes. This will pause auto-scrolling.
    • Make your edits directly in the text.
    • When finished, you can restart auto-scrolling by clicking the "A" symbol in the top-right corner, or jump back to the synchronized position with the video by clicking the "Current Paragraph" symbol

Formatting Options:

  • You can adjust how the transcript is displayed in the editor by going to the Validation tab.
Note: These formatting changes only apply to how the text looks in the editor and do not affect the final subtitles.

Subtitles Formatting:

  • To modify the final look of the subtitles, use the formatting options under the Burned-In or Closed Caption settings in your workflow's Output configuration page.
  • For HLS transcripts, use your video player's options to control how subtitles are displayed.
